“Chagall, from Poetry to Painting,” at the Hélène and Edouard Leclerc Fund from June 26 through November 1, 2016
This exhibition, curated by Jean-Louis Prat, will reunite major works selected from international museums and private collections. The works on view will illustrate the theme of the Bible, and the events that marked Chagall’s life: revolution, war, exile. It will also explore the seminal historic texts that served as foundations for his illustrated books: William Shakespeare, Jean de La Fontaine, Gogol; the writers and poets with whom Chagall remained close friends: Guillaume Apollinaire, André Malraux, Louis Aragon; and other exceptional encounters and events that took place during his lifetime.
