The work of Julie Bessard demonstrates a kind of gestural power, an internally derived organic rhythm which does not take the order of figuration, but is rather a pure product of a visual and emotional effect.

By tinkering, scraping, pushing, erasing, using the canvas as a palimpsest where the memory of one color enriches another, Julie Bessard infuses oil pastels with a materiality that transports the viewer in abstraction, an abstraction belonging to this medium and to painting. This work exists in dialogue with lived experience, offering a way to fix on paper the fleeting visual, tactile, and emotional sensations felt in life. 

Each exhibited artwork, be it painted, sculpted, or drawn, has something to recount, something to say that renders it unique in the eyes of anyone who will allow its colors and forms to wash over him.
