Starting in September 2021, Melik Ohanian will be the artist-in-resi- dence for the coming year. He is the eighth artist to do so, and he is succeeding Chilean artist Enrique Ramírez, who was in residency for the year 2020–2021.
Inaugurated in 2015 in this former mining town, the residency takes place in a building suited to hosting artists and equipped with a large studio space.The artist residency selection committee is composed of representatives from the Louvre-Lens, the Le Fresnoy National Contemporary Arts Centre, the Grand Large – Hauts-de-France Regional Contemporary Arts Foundation (FRAC) in Dunkerque, the LAM (the Lille Metro- politan Museum of Modern Art in Villeneuve d’Ascq), and the Pinault Collection.
