More than sixty artists from the collection of the Musée des Beaux-Arts "come out of their reserve(s)" and invite you to a journey through the history of women's art, from the 16th to the 21st century, thus completing the works of women artists already presented in the permanent exhibition.
For the majority of them, these works leave for the first time the obscurity of the museum's storerooms where they are kept, for a hanging in the light of the picture rails of an exhibition room.
Famous or not, from Bordeaux, Paris or abroad, all of them give to see, in a particular setting inspired by the hanging of the museum reserves, a testimony of their talent which was exercised in various mediums: painting, drawing, print, miniature, photography, ceramic, sculpture and tapestry.
Famous women artists such as Mary Cassatt or Berthe Morisot - co-founder and star of Impressionism during her lifetime - or Marie Laurencin, are thus presented without any hierarchy according to their recognition or their career.
