The first major solo exhibition devoted to the artist Denis Monfleur (b. 1962 in Périgueux) in a museum in France, People of stone presents at the museum and the Galerie des Beaux-arts de Bordeaux more than 200 works aimed at showing, for the most part, the most recent and most emblematic works of his production, through a diversity of formats and materials.
More than a hundred pieces have been selected to resonate, through their thematic or formal correspondences, with the permanent collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts.
A group of large-format works, Monumentales, will be presented outdoors as of May 4, 2023 in the garden and courtyard of the Hôtel de Ville and on the forecourts of the Galerie des Beaux-Arts and the Bordeaux Saint-Jean train station, as part of the BAD+ Art Fair - Bordeaux's first contemporary art + design fair.
