For his first collaboration with the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, Kehinde Wiley unveils a world-exclusive, never-before-seen series of portraits of African heads of state, on which he has been working confidentially since 2012. The series is the result of numerous trips to Africa, during which the artist met with various leaders, whose names are being kept confidential until the exhibition opens. The result of this reflection on the representation of power is a series of paintings which, thanks to the dialogue established between the artist and his models, reveal the tacit heritage in which each head of state wishes to inscribe himself.
