MONTE DI PIETÀ

Collection Lambert en Avignon

A collaboration between Lorraine de Sagazan and Anouk Maugein, "Monte di Pietà" lays bare injustice and the pain it causes. The director and set designer have collected some two hundred objects for the occasion: they are linked to traumatic memories of violence or crime, but their owners cannot bring themselves to throw them away. Labelled and consigned, these objects accumulate in the space to create a "sanctuary of sorrow". The installation is activated by a poetic performance combining storytelling and improvisation through texts by Laura Vazquez.

The "Monte di Pietà" exhibition is being produced in association with the Festival d'Avignon, in conjunction with Lorraine de Sagazan's new show, Léviathan, running from 15 to 21 July 2024 at the Gymnase du Lycée Aubanel.
