What if fairytales liberated us from the reality of a world that is often challenging, through imaginary narratives and fantastical scenery? What if they could also help us solve the perplexities of an ever-changing time? The gardens of the 2025 edition immerse us in the magical world of gardens that are anything but standard, from the tales of the Arabian Nights, of Andersen and of Perrault.
We can all relate to such stories and fabulous adventures, and even though fairytales are meant for children, they also say something about the human condition that appeals to each and every one of us. Thanks to the compelling emotional and philosophical power of myths, the world and its workings become much clearer. The gardens of the 2025 edition thus whisk us away on a magical voyage of discovery. While bearing in mind a commitment to the environment, a priority at Chaumont-sur-Loire, and the connection to creation, a key element in the Festival’s experimental nature, the designers tell us stories, a defining characteristic of humankind and of literature.
In these imagined gardens, all the virtues, all the qualities of plants and all the themes related to our time have been considered and showcased through the lens of the fairytale. Once again, the designers have not held back when it comes to any innovations or proposals that turn their plot into a concentration of imagination, emotion, knowledge and expert know-how in terms of presentation and botany. There are new materials, new plants, each one even more surprising than the last, new settings and new techniques... all in store to amaze and enchant visitors. The designers for the 2025 International Garden Festival at the Domain of Chaumont- sur-Loire have once again, through their creativity, met the high standards of the event.
