Valère Novarina may be one of the greatest contemporary poets and playwrights, but he's also a great painter. Constantly switching back and forth between pen and brush, he unleashes a flamboyant style of painting, a flurry of colors from which emerge dots and curves reminiscent of the gesture of writing. On large square formats, because “they can be looked at in all directions”, he paints as he writes.
For several months, Valère Novarina will be taking over the Cité, from the Cour du jeu de paume to the exhibition halls, for a major solo show, a singular journey of paintings, drawings, sounds and videos, inviting visitors to delve into his world.
