The Rencontres d’Arles is one of the leading international photography festivals in the world. The festival has been playing a major part in achieving recognition for photography as an art form since 1970. Every year, the Rencontres d’Arles presents 60 different exhibitions in 20 locations in the town of Arles, South of France.
Directed by François Hébel, this year’s programme will turn the spotlight on Mexico, from the Mexican Revolution to contemporary photography. This will be presented alongside the 10th Anniversary of the Rencontres d’Arles Awards, the 30th Anniversary of the New York Time Magazine, and a string of exhibitions including From Here On a new manifesto on photography in the age of the internet, a retrospective dedicated to Chris Marker, a special project by Wang Qingsong, along with an ambitious programme of evening screenings, concerts and events throughout the city of Arles.
