The FRAC will close its doors from 26 May to 12 June inclusive for the installation of Yazid Oulab’s exhibition which will be unveiled on 13 June at 6pm.
This will be Yazid Oulab’s first solo exhibition in a French gallery and in Marseille, where he works and lives. It features a selection of new work.
Oulab was born in 1958 in Constantine, Algeria, and has degrees from the School of Fine Arts in Algiers and the Luminy Art School in Marseille. Using diverse media including writing, drawing, video, sculpture and installations, Oulab’s work explores the themes of human ties and transmission.
“My work is the story of my life. My father is a labourer and my mother an intellectual.I’m the result of that mix. My work has its foundations in workers’ tools; added to that are reflection, spirit and knowledge.”
This project furthers one of the FRAC’s cultural and artistic goals – to reinforce its Mediterranean identity while providing suport to artists from other Mediterranean countries.
