Temporary Exhibition - MuCEM J4 - (400 m2) From 12 March to 25 August 2014.
The heart of this exhibition is a collection of 18 bronzes of high quality, national treasures, currently exhibited in the Rabat Archaeological Museum. They date primarily from the Hellenistic and imperial periods. These bronzes come mostly from the archaeological excavations of Volubilis (Morocco), one of the capitals of Juba II, the Numidian prince raised at the court in Rome.
They bear witness to a certain way of life in vogue among the aristocratic and affluent classes of Mediterranean society during this period. The perspective chosen will lead to an analysis of the tastes and practices of a particular society during a given time in the Mediterranean. The exhibition will take, based on this archaeological heritage, a point of view both ethnological and societal, which is the direction of its mission, all while opening to the knowledge and delectation of the masterpieces from the region of Volubilis and Morocco in a comparative dynamic.
