"I long for the return of dioramas whose brutal and enormous magic has the power to impose on me a useful illusion.” Charles Baudelaire (1)
In summer 2017, with “Dioramas”, Palais de Tokyo explores an unexpected source of inspiration for contemporary art: the diorama. The show takes an unprecedented approach to deconstruct the history of looking, at the crossroads of history itself, as well as the histories of art, cinema, the world of theatre, popular and fairground arts, science, and technology.
