From 17 December 2023 to 14 April 2024, the Fondation Opale (Lens/Crans-Montana) is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a bold participatory exhibition that invites leading figures from the world of Swiss culture to enter into conversation with Aboriginal art, giving rise to a critical, profound and sometimes surprising dialogue between cultures. The exhibition features more than sixty Aboriginal and international works which, like mirrors held up to each other, reflect back on each other and make us think about our identity and our perception of others.
To celebrate its fifth anniversary, as well as inaugurating a new building containing a store of works, an auditorium and a library, the Opale Foundation has challenged 26 leading figures from the world of Swiss culture - in the broadest sense, including artists, writers and collectors, but also a neuroscientist and a watchmaker - to choose a work of contemporary Aboriginal art from the Opale Foundation's collections, by proposing a "mirror work" that they own, that they have created or that the Foundation could borrow. ... to kick off this unique project.
